In popular culture, Mallt y Nos is a spirit guide in Tom Siddell’s Gunnerkrigg Court and is the code name of a character in C.A. Higgin’s Lightless trilogy.

The popularity of Mallt is not high. In 2016 it was not one of the 100 most popular baby girls’ name in Wales and was not in the top 1000 overall. Mallt is not often used as a baby girl name and Matilda is the most commonly used variant.
