Elenydd is an upland plateau in the Cambrian Mountains of western mid Wales. The Elenydd is an area found between Pumlumon and Mynydd Epynt. The Cambrian Mountains provides the source for one of its rivers, Afon Elan.
Afon Elan is the name of a river that is most likely derived from “doe/fawn;hind” (in reference to the way the river’s flow bounds and rushes quickly like a deer) and also the name of a Welsh motherhood goddess.
